A portrait of a young man looking down and slightly to the side: wavy hair swept up from his forehead, heavy-lidded dark eyes, a faint smile and an open shirt. Soft, light leaves frame him on both sides.

It is drawn in a hardbound Canson sketchbook. The face starts as a light sketch, then the leaves and the folds of the shirt are added. A 0.7 mm mechanical pencil builds up the shadows in the eyes, nose and lips, the waves of the hair are drawn strand by strand, and the shirt is shaded last; a kneaded eraser and blending stumps keep the skin soft.
