Drawing a woman's portrait in my sketchbook with graphite pencil – portrait practice from the first light lines of the face to the shaded eyes, lips and hair. No talking, just the drawing process with calm music.

A portrait study of a young woman looking straight ahead: large, softly shaded eyes under arched brows, full lips, a straight nose and dark hair with a centre parting, pulled back behind her ears.
Everything is drawn in a hardbound Canson sketchbook with a 0.7 mm mechanical pencil, a kneaded eraser for the highlights and blending stumps for the soft skin tones. The face starts with light construction lines, then the neck and shoulders, and the shading is built up from the eyes outward before the hair is drawn strand by strand.
There is no voice-over, only the drawing process and calm music, so it works as relaxing portrait practice to draw along with. More portraits: a surreal woman portrait in pencil, a woman portrait in blue colored pencil, or browse all sketchbook drawings.
