Carnival dancer drawing in pencil: a samba dancer with a tall feather headdress, long flowing hair and a wide ruffled skirt, from the first loose stick figure to the soft graphite shading, drawn in my Canson sketchbook with a 0.7 mm mechanical pencil, blending stumps and a kneaded eraser. Real-time drawing with calm samba music, no talking.

Carnival is all about movement, so this dancer had to move too: a samba dancer in a tall feather headdress, her long hair flying behind her and her wide ruffled skirt held out at both sides, drawn on a page of my Canson sketchbook.
It starts with a loose stick figure to find the pose, then the face, the arms and the big circle of the skirt. With a 0.7 mm mechanical pencil the graphite is built up in layers: fine lines for the pleats of the skirt, a beaded pattern on the top and the waistband, curls in the hair and soft shading on the legs. Blending stumps smooth the shadows inside the ruffles and a kneaded eraser brings back the light on the feathers.
There is no voice-over, only calm samba music, so you can draw along at your own pace or simply watch the dancer appear. More pencil art is in the sketchbook drawings.
