Drawing a man with curly hair and a beard in my sketchbook with pencil – a portrait from the first light lines of the face to the shaded eyes, beard and curls. No talking, just the drawing process with calm music.

A portrait of a young man looking slightly to the side: thick, wavy curls falling over his forehead, dark eyes under strong brows, a short beard and an open shirt that shows his collarbones.
It is drawn in a hardbound Canson sketchbook. The face and shoulders start as a light sketch, then a 0.7 mm mechanical pencil builds up the eyes, nose and lips, a kneaded eraser lifts the highlights and blending stumps soften the skin. The curls are drawn lock by lock, with the darkest shadows added at the very end.
There is no voice-over, only the drawing process and calm music, so it works as relaxing portrait practice to draw along with. More portraits: a male portrait in pencil, a young man in pencil and charcoal, or browse all sketchbook drawings.
