My first urban sketch: the view from my balcony, with a dog resting on a lounger, flower boxes, a clock tower and little houses behind the trees. I sketch it in pencil, ink it with a fineliner and color it with watercolor pencils and a wet brush. Real-time drawing with calm music, no talking.

This was my first try at urban sketching: drawing the world right outside your door. Here it is the view from a balcony, with a wooden deck, a dog resting on a blue lounger with its ball, a potted plant, flower boxes full of red blooms, and behind the fence a row of tall trees with a clock tower and little colorful houses.
It starts as a light pencil sketch and is then inked with a fine black liner. The color comes from watercolor pencils: first dry on the sky and the trees, then a wet brush turns the pencil into soft watercolor washes, before the deck, the dog and the flowers get their layers.
The video runs about ten minutes in real time, with calm music and no talking. Want more? Watch the Dutch clogs and tulips drawing, the landscape in a glass ball, or browse more sketchbook drawings.
