"Savia" (Spanish for sap) is a tree spirit girl: bare branches grow from her hair, red toadstools sit on her head, and with tears on her cheeks she holds a tiny plant with a red bud. I color the inked drawing in my sketchbook with colored pencils, layer by layer. Real-time drawing with calm music, no talking.

"Savia" means sap in Spanish, the life that flows through a tree. Here she is a tree spirit girl: bare branches grow out of her golden-brown hair, two red toadstools sit on her head, a third eye rests on her forehead, and her body is made of bark. With her eyes closed and tears on her cheeks, she holds a small pot with a single red bud, as if new life is still possible.
The drawing was already inked with a Pigma Micron fineliner, so the video is all about color. With colored pencils I start on the toadstools and the face, then the branches, the hair and the bark body, adding green and teal accents in the hair and finishing with the red lips and the flower bud.
The video runs about six minutes in real time, with calm music and no talking. Like surreal art? Watch the surreal flower in colored pencil, the fairy girl in pencil, or browse more sketchbook drawings.
