A carnival couple dancing: a woman with a colorful feather headdress and a swirling red-orange dress, and her partner in a yellow jacket. From the first pencil sketch to the fineliner lines, brush markers, colored pencils and a touch of glitter, all in my sketchbook. Real-time drawing with calm samba music, no talking.

A couple dancing at carnival: she wears a tall headdress of red, orange and green feathers and a wide red-orange dress that swirls around her as she turns, he wears a long yellow jacket and a red hat. The illustration was inspired by the carnival festivities and fills a page of my A5 sketchbook.
It starts as a light pencil sketch, then every line is inked with a Pigma Micron fineliner. The feathers get their first color with brush markers, after which Koh-I-Noor Polycolor colored pencils build up the skin, the dress and the jacket layer by layer. At the end a glitter gel pen adds sparkle to the skirt.
The video runs about seven and a half minutes in real time, with calm samba music and no talking. More carnival? Watch the carnival dancer drawn in pencil, or browse more sketchbook drawings.
