Octopus mermaid drawing in ballpoint pen – an octomaid with curling tentacles hugs a curly-haired boy with round glasses, drawn with one blue Bic pen in my Canson sketchbook. Real-time drawing with calm music, no talking.

Octomaid is a girl who is half octopus: dark hair with a little crown of curls, big heavy-lidded eyes, small marks on her cheeks and long tentacles that curl around her shoulders. Here she holds on tight to a boy with curly hair and round glasses who looks straight at you. The whole drawing appears in real time on one page of my Canson sketchbook.
Everything is drawn with a single blue Bic Cristal ballpoint pen – no pencil sketch to erase, no colors. The darks come from layered hatching and cross-hatching: the girl's hair and dress are built up in many passes until they turn deep navy, while the boy's shirt stays light with only a few loose lines. The suckers on the tentacles are tiny circles and loops, which gives them texture without heavy shading.
There is no voice-over, only calm music, so you can draw along at your own pace or simply watch how the shading grows. Ballpoint pen is cheap and forgiving in its own way: you cannot erase, so you learn to press lightly first and darken step by step. More drawings from imagination are in the sketchbook drawings.
