Day of the Dead sugar skull drawing in graphite pencil – a calavera full of swirls, a flower on the forehead and flowing ribbons, drawn in my Canson sketchbook with a mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser and blending stumps. Real-time drawing with calm music, no talking.

A calavera for Día de Muertos: a sugar skull covered in swirls, dots and little leaves, with a star-shaped flower on the forehead, spiral eyes and long ribbons flowing around it. The video follows the whole drawing in real time in my Canson sketchbook.
Everything is drawn in graphite with a 0.7 mm mechanical pencil. A kneaded eraser lifts the highlights and blending stumps soften the shadows around the cheekbones and teeth. There is no voice-over, only calm music, so you can draw along at your own pace.
A good pencil-only subject for October and early November – see the Halloween drawings for more.
