Vampi is a small, friendly vampire: a teardrop-shaped head with two curled horns, big glossy red eyes, a tiny mouth with two little fangs and spiky bat wings. Around the character float circles, bubbles and swirling lines that turn the page into a dreamy pink night. The video follows the whole drawing in real time in my Canson sketchbook.

The line work is done with an ordinary blue-black Bic Cristal ballpoint pen. The horns are filled with tiny circles, a simple texture that gives them depth without heavy shading, and the eyes get several rings of pen and red pencil so they look round and shiny. The background is layered with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils in soft pinks and magentas, kept lighter around the character so it stands out. At the end a white Sakura Gelly Roll gel pen and a Derwent Chinese White pencil add the small highlights in the eyes and on the background bubbles.

There is no voice-over, only calm music, so you can draw along at your own pace or simply watch. Ballpoint pen is a forgiving way to start: you cannot erase, so every line becomes part of the character.
